Discipline at PKLC focuses on fostering social, emotional, and cognitive development. We support each child’s growth by using positive reinforcement, setting clear expectations, modeling appropriate behavior, and redirecting when necessary.
At PKLC, we embrace an Open-Door Policy to encourage active parent involvement. This policy fosters open communication and strengthens the partnership between families and the school. It ensures parents feel welcome and engaged in their child’s learning, promoting transparency and trust between educators and families.
Our primary communication tool is Brightwheel, followed by phone calls, and email as a last resort. The method of communication depends on the urgency and nature of the information being shared.
Tuition is billed weekly, every Monday, and is due by Friday.
Meals, including breakfast, lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, and a late afternoon snack, are provided as part of your child’s tuition.
Our emergency plan will be emailed to families upon enrollment.
We make sure to take children outside during both winter and summer, for short periods, so they can safely experience the weather. During summer, water fountains are readily available for cooling off.
Nap time is scheduled from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in accordance with licensing regulations. While children are encouraged to rest, they are not required to sleep. This is a designated period for quiet time.
PKLC will be closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Children showing symptoms of a cold, flu, or other contagious illnesses—such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, or stomach issues—must remain at home for at least 24 hours after symptoms have resolved. This policy helps prevent the spread of illness to other children and staff, ensuring a safe and healthy environment. If a child is diagnosed with a contagious illness, we ask parents to follow medical advice and ensure their child is fully recovered before returning. This helps reduce the risk of outbreaks and supports everyone’s well-being.
All supplies are sanitized daily, and more frequently when necessary, especially if they have been placed in a child’s mouth.
Please send in weather-appropriate extra clothing, including socks and shoes, along with wipes/diapers. Additionally, provide a blanket or personal item for nap time.
If your child is in the process of potty training, please let us know what methods or routines you are using at home. We will work with you to maintain consistency between home and school. Additionally, please send in extra clothing and underwear in case of accidents throughout the day. This will help us ensure your child stays comfortable and clean.
An average day at PKLC includes a balanced mix of structured activities, play-based learning, social interaction, physical activity, and rest time, all designed to support the development of the whole child. The routine may vary slightly depending on your child’s age and individual needs.
